Web Summit 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal, has hosted a Ukrainian pavilion for the second time in a row. This year, the Ukrainian sector focused on discussing the challenges of the nowadays history and how businesses can overcome associated problems. One of the speakers, Roosh Founding Partner Sergey Tokarev, stressed how important it is for businesses to take care of and nurture the whole system that lets them grow and develop. In other words, any company, be it big or small, should prioritize more employees, public infrastructure, relationships with the international community, and the whole society.

Web Summit is the largest tech event. It is held annually in Lisbon, Portugal, and focuses on IT, innovations, and venture capitalism. Attendees get an opportunity to listen to and network with CEOs, founders, investors, journalists, political representatives, and tech influences. This year, Web Summit hosted more than 70,000 attendees from all over the world.

The Ukrainian pavilion also hosted a large range of famous and interesting speakers including Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov, Roosh Founding Partner Sergey Tokarev, Deputy Chief of Party, USAID Justice for All Program Natalia Petrova, and Head of Product Pawa Tetyana Yaroshenko. The speakers shared their experiences on how one can save their business during war and other crisis times and how to develop businesses, paying special attention to startups.

Talking about taking care of the system, Sergey Tokarev mentioned examples from his own life. The COVID-19 pandemic brought many restrictions to Ukraine, yet it didn’t stop him from launching Roosh Ventures as it was a long-time dream of his to create the largest hub in Europe for ML and AI projects and place it in Ukraine.  Roosh Ventures is a venture capital foundation that helps Ukrainian startups boost their businesses and find mentors and networking for founders.

Sergey Tokarev explained that it was important for him to create an ecosystem for AI/ML companies to boost the whole industry. Now, the Roosh ecosystem includes two successful AI-based startups Reface and Zibra AI, venture studio Pawa, SET University based in Kyiv, and AI HOUSE, a company that trains AI/ML specialists and helps them create a community.

Web Summit 2022 lasted on November 1-4. The Ukrainian discussion panel was opened by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska who talked about technology that should be used for inventing and creating new things that can help people thrive, not destroy the world.
