Plymouth will be hosting the British Fireworks Championship, a spectacular show that promises to be another highlight. Tonight and tomorrow will see a vibrant display of colours and swirling lights on the Plymouth Hoe shoreline.

This will be the 25th annual fireworks competition in the city, featuring six of the best pyrotechnic companies competing to impress judges. Each team will display the best fireworks in America for ten minutes. At 9.30 pm, the 1st fireworks display begins.

Plymouth Tonight Fireworks – History

It is observed in memory of the victims of the shooting who fled Plymouth in shock and sorrow. In 1777, Philadelphia’s Independence Day celebration inspired the tradition of lighting fireworks. While a ship saluted 13 original colonies with a salute of thirteen guns, the Sons of Liberty lit fireworks over Boston Common.

The Chinese accidentally made firecrackers by throwing bamboo in a fire. However, it would take another 1000 years for real fireworks to be developed.

Fireworks: When and where will it take place?

The live entertainment will begin on the stage at 6 o’clock. It is located on the grass at east end of Hoe. Three teams will each perform a 10-minute display of fireworks, starting at 9.30 pm. Each display will last approximately ten minutes.
